Instagram adds five new filters to iOS and Android App

Instagram has announced a massive update for iOS and Android device on Tuesday. They have added five new filters to the app. Mayfair and Willow were the last filters to get updated in App back in December 2012. The company has not updated the filters after it. “Crema”, “Slumber”, “Ludwig”, “Aden” and “Perpetua” are the newly added filters in Application. All these filters will appear first in the filter tray of the updated version of App. Instagram now has 24 options of filters. All the older filters were created considering the low-quality images. But high-resolution camera now users have in their smart phone has just changed how they take photographs.

Instagram has stated in an official blog post that this update is inspired by the camera improvements on smart phones and the creativity of its users. It will help communities to achieve the look and feel in the photograph.

“Inspired by the photography, art, fashion and design of the global Instagram community, we’re releasing five new filters that we believe are our best yet… They soften and subtly shift colors to achieve the look and feel you want for your each photo… To make it easier to choose between filters, we’ve updated how they’re displayed. When you go to apply a filter to your photo, each filter icon on the bottom now displays a blurred preview of your photo with its effect applied. This lets you see at a glance how your photo will appear with each filter applied.”

Instagram has also made some UI improvements in this updated version of the App. It allows user to manage the filters as per their preference. You will find the manage option at the end of the filter tray. You can re-arrange or hide the filters using manage options. Updated version of the App has the new look of how filters are displayed. Each filter icon at the bottom now displays a blurred preview of the photo with its effect applied when you go to apply a filter to any photo. It makes filter selection very easy and comfortable.

You can upload slo-mo videos using your Android device now along with the real time commenting feature. You don’t need to refresh the page to see new comments on the post. It will appear now in real time. Another feature you will notice with the updated version of the app is an option to adjust your photo’s perspective using the adjust tool.

2014 has been a great year for Instagram. They have crossed the 200 million users mark in March 2014 and 300 million users mark by the end of 2014. More than 70 million photos and videos get shared on Instagram everyday. It is becoming one of the fastest growing photo-sharing platforms among the online community.  Instagram for for iOS version 6.4.0 and Android version 6.12.0 is available now on Apple’s App Store and Google Play Store.
