Google Penguin 3.0 – Are you Hit or Recovered?

Google said that it is an algorithm update not a data refresh. This is the reason why webmasters have seen the significant changes in the website ranking and traffic. Some blogging websites that were allowing paid link are liked to be hurt badly via this penguin update. There is also some smile for webmasters who get recovered from the effect of the previous penguin hits. In fact, lots of webmasters have observed the increase in keyword ranking and website traffic since last Friday.

What’s new in Penguin 3.0?

As we all know the idea behind the penguin algorithm is to identify the spammy back links and restrict the websites getting good ranking on the basis of that spammy link profile. It has encouraged lots of business to do negative SEO for their competitor’s websites. Google has worked very hard to identify negative SEO and prevent other webmaster from being able to harm your website rankings.

If you have performed a detailed backlink analysis for your website, identified all the bad back links, removed all those links and submit a reconsideration request; this update will definitely reward your efforts of cleaning up the link profile. It’s been a year since Google has updated the penguin algorithm; so the webmasters who were hit by previous updates may recover this time. This Penguin 3.0 update is more about the update to reward the good work of the webmasters hit by previous penguin updates than to penalize the website and restricting the website from being ranked in SERP.

Back links are still a very important ranking factor and if you have observed a sudden ranking decrease or the traffic drop after Friday 17th October 14; it could be the effect of the Penguin 3.0 algorithm update. I will suggest you to keep a close eye on your website’s back link profile and try to keep it as natural and clean as possible.
