Twitter lets offline users see tweets and join the discussion

Twitter has announced the update to platform homepage to offer better user experience to the logged-out users. Twitter is looking to extend the platform access to the users even if they are logged out or not signed up to the account. The company has rolled out the new home timeline to the mobile users in 23 countries. Twitter has also refreshed the homepage for the desktop users. Users visit Twitter to know what is happening around the world. This update will help users get in touch with the world they care for even if they are not logged into Twitter.

Paul Lambert, Product Manager at Twitter has announced the updates on the official blog. He wrote, “we want to make great content accessible for everyone — even if you’re not signed in. Today, we’re excited to announce improvements to twitter.com that will bring those great Tweets to even more people across the globe.”

Twitter has rolled out the refreshed homepage across the 23 countries on Tuesday. When a non-user will visit twitter.com from their desktop, they will see the list of the topics to explore areas like Politics, Pop Artists, and Sports etc. Clicking on a specific topic will show you the timeline of tweets from the popular accounts related to that topic. That timeline will serve the rich real-time content directly from the trusted source of content. It will provide the same experience as the logged-in users, who comes to the Twitter homepage now.

The company has introduced this refreshed homepage back in April last year in the USA and Japan. Now, it is available in 23 countries including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, France, Germany, Japan, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Nigeria, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Spain, South Africa, Taiwan, the UK and the US.

Along with the refreshed homepage, Twitter has introduced a new home timeline for mobile users from Tuesday. Previously users were able to see the individual tweets without signing to the account but it was difficult to discover stories and conversations happening on the twitter. Users can checkout the latest stories on the twitter as it unfolds, dive into the play-to-play discussions around the game, and come back again after some time to see the exchange between two rappers without signing in. It is designed to provide same user experience as the signed-in users to the logged-out users.

Twitter loves to experiment to the platform to provide better users experience. Along with this logged-out users timeline feature, users have also found Twitter is testing with new timeline design for the logged-in users. This logged out user timeline feature update looks small but it is very significant from the Twitter’s perspective. It will open up Twitter to the wider audience. That means more people will be able to access the twitter and follow the live event on Twitter now.
