Google panda – latest Google update 3.4

We are back with one more Google Panda update to continue our discussion on Google Panda update series. In our last blog we have focused on Google Panda updates 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3 ”Exploring Panda Update 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3”. Panda update 3.1 announced on November 18th, 2011. It was just a data refresh affected less than 1% of queries. Google has not revealed more information on this Panda Update. Google confirmed the next Panda update 3.2 on 18th January, 2012 which was announced by official note on 3rd February, 2012. Panda update 3.3 was announced on 27th February, 2012 as minor data refresh. The goal of Panda series updates is to improve our search quality and remove low quality websites from search results.

Google panda update 3.4

This time Google used its official twitter account to announce the Google Panda update 3.4. Google declared this update by a tweet on 24th March, 2012.

The tweet says “Panda refresh rolling out now. Only ~1.6% of queries noticeably affected. Background on Panda: goo.gl/mTKCH”. This was the tweet from Google account”

Again this update was just a data refresh with minor changes. It has affected less than 1.6% search queries. The ultimate goal of the Google is to improve the search results and to justify the quality websites through the Panda updates. As Google stated in an official blog:

“Our goal is simple: to give people the most relevant answers to their queries as quickly as possible. This requires constant tuning of our algorithms, as new content—both good and bad—comes online all the time.”

This update specially targeted on blog networks or SEO Link Vine websites and over optimized websites.“SEO link Vine is the websites based on network of blogs“where one unique article uploaded and placed to some blogs by spinning it one or more times. Blog networking websites are hit badly from this update.

What webmaster should do?

Avoid going for over optimization and just focusing on content only. Make sure that your page content is specific to the title. Focus on your users and give the users what exactly they want on your website. As LSI (Latent semantic indexing) is able to understand what your page is about without considering the ratio of keywords in the content. Stop blog networking activities. To improve search results, Google considers social networks indications while giving results of queries. It is recommended to contribute more on social networking websites as it affects your ranking.
