A video production agency’s website has one specific job: show the work well enough that a prospect stops browsing and starts a conversation. KrishaStudio’s old site was not doing that job. Six weeks later the rebuilt platform was fast, visually sharp and independently managed by the team from day one.

How KrishaWeb Turned KrishaStudio's Portfolio Into a Client Engine

KrishaStudio is a video production agency offering explainer videos, corporate videos, promotional content and animated advertisements for businesses across industries. Producing great video is only half the equation. The other half is making sure potential clients find the studio, understand its range and feel confident enough to reach out.

That second half is entirely the website’s job. A prospect searching for a video production partner wants to see the quality, understand the service range, find proof that the studio has worked in their industry and then take the next step with minimal friction. Every second of load time, every portfolio piece that does not display cleanly and every unclear service description is a moment where that prospect reconsiders. KrishaStudio had the creative capability. What it needed was a website that presented that capability at the same standard.

Problem Definition

The Challenge

Creative agencies live and die by first impressions. A potential client who finds a video production studio’s website slow, visually inconsistent or hard to navigate draws an immediate conclusion about the agency’s attention to detail — and that conclusion carries over into how they think about the studio’s production quality.

Slow Load Times on a Site Built to Showcase Visual Work

Average page load time was approximately 4.9 seconds with a mobile PageSpeed score of 43. For a creative agency this carries a specific credibility cost. The Largest Contentful Paint was running at 5.4 seconds — on a portfolio site where the hero section exists to make an immediate visual impact, a 5.4-second delay makes that impact on roughly half the visitors who stayed.

A Portfolio That Could Not Stay Current

KrishaStudio’s old site required a developer for every portfolio update. New projects sat in a queue while the live portfolio showed work that was weeks or months behind the agency’s actual output. In creative services, an outdated portfolio actively suggests the agency may not be as busy or as in-demand as it actually is.

No Component Architecture for Service Expansion

KrishaStudio’s service range covers several distinct production types — explainer videos, corporate videos, promotional content and animated advertisements. The old site’s architecture made adding or expanding service pages a bespoke development project each time. There was no reusable block system the team could use to build a new service page quickly and consistently.

Bounce Rate That Reflected a Disconnect Between Expectation and Experience

A bounce rate of approximately 71% meant most visitors who arrived from video production related searches left without engaging. The session duration of 43 seconds was not enough time to watch even the shortest portfolio piece, let alone form a view of the agency’s capabilities and decide to make contact.

Success Criteria

Objectives

Before development began we aligned on clear measurable outcomes. These were the targets that shaped every build decision across the six-week project.

  • Achieve 90 or above on Google PageSpeed for both desktop and mobile through a zero-dependency native Gutenberg build
  • Reduce page load time to under 2 seconds to ensure portfolio content renders before prospects lose patience
  • Build a portfolio showcase system the team can update independently — adding new projects in under 20 minutes without developer involvement
  • Increase portfolio page engagement rate by at least 80% through improved layout, load speed and visual presentation of work
  • Lift the inquiry and quote request rate from approximately 1.6% to above 3% through clearer service presentation and lower-friction CTAs
  • Deliver a complete Gutenberg block library covering every page section type the studio uses and will need for future expansion
Our Approach

Our Strategy

A video production agency's website has a conversion dynamic unlike most other professional services sites. The persuasion happens visually. A prospect does not read their way to an inquiry — they watch their way there. Every architectural and development decision was evaluated against one question: does this make it faster and easier for a prospect to find work that resonates with their brief and feel confident enough to reach out?

Performance as Portfolio Delivery

On most websites performance is an infrastructure concern. On a video production agency’s portfolio site it is a creative concern. A page that renders in 1.6 seconds lets the portfolio do its job. We built the site with zero page builder dependency because page builder overhead directly competes with creative assets for bandwidth and rendering priority. Native Gutenberg with a custom lightweight theme eliminates that competition entirely.

Portfolio Architecture Built for Currency and Discoverability

We built the portfolio showcase as a filterable, category-driven system the KrishaStudio team can manage entirely on their own. Adding a new project takes under 20 minutes in the WordPress editor with no developer needed. The filtering system was designed around how a prospect actually approaches a video production portfolio — navigating to explainer videos or animated content rather than scrolling through an undifferentiated archive.

Service Clarity as the Lead-In to Portfolio Depth

We restructured the information architecture around how a video production prospect actually moves through a decision. They land with a category in mind — they need an explainer video or an animated brand campaign. The three-step journey of confirm, evidence and engage maps directly to the block sequence built: service sections that confirm the range, portfolio blocks that evidence the quality and CTA sections that reduce friction.

A Reusable System Built for a Growing Creative Business

We built the Gutenberg block library with growth in mind — not just the pages that existed at launch but the pages the team will need to build independently over the next two to three years. Every block is flexible enough to serve multiple page types, every layout variation is accessible without code and the system enforces design consistency automatically so new pages always look like the same studio.

RESULTS

From 71% Bounce Rate to 94 PageSpeed and 144% More Inquiries

KrishaStudio had the creative capability. The website was not presenting it at the same standard. A video production agency whose portfolio loads slowly, cannot stay current without a developer and loses most of its visitors before they watch a single piece of work is a studio leaving inquiries on the table every day. Six weeks changed all of that.

  • Desktop PageSpeed went from 49 to 94 and mobile from 43 to 90, both past the project target and into the top 10% of WordPress sites for performance. Most creative agency sites sit in the low 50s on mobile, dragged down by heavy imagery and page builder bloat. KrishaStudio hit 90 without compromising the portfolio’s visual quality. The site looks and loads like the work of a premium studio.
  • The inquiry and quote request rate climbed from 1.6% to 3.9%, a 144% jump. On the same traffic, that is more than double the project conversations from the same marketing spend. It came from faster load times, a portfolio organised so visitors could actually find relevant work, and CTAs placed after someone had seen the services, browsed the work and read the testimonials.
  • Portfolio engagement rose from 31% to 68%. Bounce rate fell from 71% to 38% and average session length grew from 43 seconds to 2 minutes 34 seconds. Someone spending that long on a video production site has watched the work and seriously weighed up the studio. Since launch, the team has added projects, updated services and published testimonials through Gutenberg without a single developer ticket.

Key Action Taken

Week 1: Planning and Requirements

  • Conducted requirement analysis sessions to understand KrishaStudio’s service range, target clients and primary conversion goals.
  • Reviewed the design structure and defined the technical approach for native Gutenberg development.
  • Planned the reusable component architecture — identifying which sections would need the most flexibility for ongoing portfolio and service updates.
  • Prepared the full development roadmap with week-by-week deliverables and block priority sequencing.

Week 2: Design Analysis and Component Planning

  • Broke down all design layouts into discrete reusable block components, mapping each section to a specific Gutenberg block specification.
  • Identified layout variation requirements within the portfolio showcase block — single video, multi-project grid, category-filtered view.
  • Defined the complete block taxonomy covering all seven primary section types required across the full site.
  • Flagged opportunities to improve conversion architecture in the design — CTA placement, portfolio navigation flow and service-to-inquiry pathway.

Week 3: Front-End Development

  • Built all seven custom Gutenberg block types: hero sections, service sections, portfolio showcase with category filtering, industry sections, testimonial cards, CTA sections and FAQ accordion blocks.
  • Implemented the portfolio showcase as a filterable grid with category tagging — fully manageable by the KrishaStudio team through the WordPress editor.
  • Built mobile-first responsive behaviour into every block at the component level, validated across 320px, 375px, 768px and 1440px breakpoints.
  • Conducted initial performance testing on completed blocks to validate load strategy before content integration.

Week 4: Development Completion and Content Integration

  • Assembled all site pages from the completed Gutenberg block library — mirroring exactly the workflow the team would use for future page creation.
  • Integrated all client-provided service copy, portfolio projects, video embeds, client testimonials and imagery.
  • Validated Gutenberg editor experience across all block types — confirming the internal team could update, reorder and manage all content without confusion.
  • Confirmed design consistency across all pages and all portfolio project states.

Week 5: Testing and Performance Optimisation

  • Cross-browser QA across Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge on desktop and mobile.
  • Cross-device testing at all major screen sizes with specific focus on portfolio grid rendering and video thumbnail performance on mobile.
  • Google PageSpeed Insights and Lighthouse testing — achieved 94 desktop and 90 mobile in this phase.
  • Core Web Vitals optimisation: LCP reduced to 1.3 seconds, TBT reduced to under 80ms, CLS brought to near zero. Portfolio filtering interaction testing across all device types and browsers.

Week 6: Deployment and Team Handover

  • Deployed the production site to the live server with full pre-launch validation across all pages, portfolio states and interactive elements.
  • Conducted post-deployment checks on the live environment across all major browsers and devices.
  • Produced comprehensive Gutenberg editor documentation — how to add portfolio projects, update service descriptions, manage testimonials and build new pages from existing blocks.
  • Delivered team handover session with hands-on training focused specifically on the portfolio management workflow.
Inside the Stack

The Tech Behind KrishaStudio's High-Performance Build

The KrishaStudio website runs on WordPress with a fully custom theme, native Gutenberg as the editorial layer and no page builder anywhere. That was the most consequential decision on the project. Page builders like Elementor add hundreds of kilobytes of JavaScript and CSS to every page load. This happens even when the page does not use most of it.On a portfolio site, that extra weight competes with the hero image or video for bandwidth. A custom lightweight theme removes that competition entirely, which is how the site hit 94 desktop and 90 mobile on the first measurement rather than after rounds of post-launch fixes.

Seven custom Gutenberg blocks were built across the six weeks: hero, services, a filterable portfolio showcase with category tagging, industry sections, testimonial cards, CTAs and an FAQ accordion. Each one enforces its own layout constraints, so a team member adding a project cannot accidentally break the design. Adding a new portfolio piece takes under 20 minutes: a thumbnail, a title, a category tag, a short description and a video embed. The filtering system was built natively rather than as a plugin, which keeps the performance scores clean while letting prospects jump straight to the kind of work they care about instead of scrolling the full archive.

Client Testimonial

Valuable Feedback From Our Client

“We had great work and a website that was not doing it justice. The portfolio was always behind because every update needed a developer, the site was slow enough that we knew people were leaving before they had seen anything, and we had no real way to expand our service pages as the studio grew. KrishaWeb understood all of that from the first conversation and built a solution that addressed every part of it in six weeks. The PageSpeed scores changed how our work lands on first impression. The inquiry rate improvement was the number that mattered most commercially. And the team’s ability to update the portfolio and build new pages independently has changed how quickly we can bring new work and new services to market. It launched on time and it has worked exactly as it should from day one.”

Lessons Learned

Key Takeaways

For creative agencies, website performance is creative quality.

A portfolio that loads in 1.6 seconds is a portfolio that gets seen. A portfolio that loads in 4.9 seconds is one that half your potential clients never reach. The 94 PageSpeed score did not come from optimisation passes after the site was built — it came from the decision to use native Gutenberg with a custom lightweight theme before a single block was written.

Portfolio currency is a sales tool.

The most recent work a studio has completed is usually its best argument for a new client in a similar space. A portfolio system that requires developer support for every addition consistently shows prospects slightly old work rather than the studio's actual current output. The 119% improvement in portfolio engagement will compound over time as the team adds new projects every week.

Organising a portfolio for the prospect's journey, not the studio's internal categories, is one of the highest-leverage conversion changes a creative agency can make.

Category filtering by output type lets a prospect navigate to the work most relevant to their brief in seconds rather than minutes. The 46% bounce rate reduction reflects visitors finding what they came for — when they can navigate directly to the category that matches their project, they stay, engage and inquire.

A six-week timeline for a complete creative agency website is achievable when the planning phase is taken seriously.

Two full weeks of requirement analysis and component planning before development begins is not overhead — it is what makes weeks three through six run without rework. Creative agency websites look deceptively simple but the underlying architecture requires real thought. Doing that thinking before development begins rather than during it is what keeps the timeline.

The block library is a long-term asset, not a one-project deliverable.

KrishaStudio's Gutenberg component system supports every page the team will build over the next several years. New service verticals, industry-specific landing pages, campaign-specific content — all of it can be assembled from existing blocks in under an hour, maintaining design consistency automatically. Every page built without a developer is the return on the architectural work done in weeks one and two.
